Adrienne Cater, born Adrienne Lunn when she caught the entertainment bug at 5 years old performing in the community theater of her hometown in the Wynnfield section of Philadelphia PA. Her mother moved her to Hampton Va at age 7 where she studied dance before returning to Philadelphia at age 13 to perform in her first musical “Guys and Dolls”, followed by her performance as Mama in “A Raisin in the Sun “at the St. Josephs Bluett Theater. She continued to perform in several plays as well as backup singing for Donald Welch Productions and performances at Freedom Theater. In 2000 she became the Performing Arts Director at Grover Washington Middle School. In 2002 she owned a performing arts daycare center named Reach for the Stars Youth Development Center for 17 years. In 2016 she acquired ownership of A’s Place on Main St in Manayunk (the old Manayunk Diner) , Which became a popular venue for live entertainment, comedy and dinner and dancing. She now owns a food manufacturing company which provides prepared meals for daycare centers and home health providers. “The Shoeshine Box” is her debut theater production.
